As some of you may know NetZero is a free nation wide (USA) isp. It can
be totally free because it gets payed by advertisers who want their ads
displayed on an annoying banner that changed every 30 seconds. The banner takes up good portion of your screen and even though the isp is free i feel it is my duty to make it better for all (i.e. GIVE THE USERS A FULL SCREEN AND FASTER SPEEDS!)
Well the price on this isp is damn good, but the speeds aren't so hot and the banner gets a bit annoying, so one day i was pondering, "What if I used a firewall to stop the banners from loading every 30 seconds," which is not only annoying, but takes up a good ammount of your precious bandwith. So I went to town with At Guard Firewall 3.0, which I highly reccomend everyont go out and buy right now, below I give out step by step instructions on how to use it.
1. Have At Guard in the taskbar, but not active.
2. Sign on to NetZero, but BEFORE the banner ads load start At Guards firewall! (the reason we do it this way is because it needs the 1st info sent from netzero to actually open the banner, and if it doesn't do that then it won't connect you to NetZero.
3. After all that DENY any packets sent to you from NetZero (your download speeds should increase a bit so now ya can download your "/<r4d W4r3z" for free you "31337 d00dz" (if you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic.)
4. Now the banner should have closed (I haven't tried this on the newest version, but lemme know if it works)
5. Lastly to stay on FOREVER just make a quick VB program that clicks the button that comes up every 1/2 hour or so make sure your not idle.
End of Story, This has worked for me, obvioisly if ya have the money dont cancel you current isp but for you ghetto people go ahead and use this. And yes I am aware this isn't a hack, but what the hell, it's a little trick of the trade i think all people interested in computer security could use, even though ya can't do jack on a Winblows box.
